Answer:

Wetlands prevent flooding by temporarily storing and slowly releasing stormwater.

Step-by-step explanation:

Wetlands also reduce water flow, thus allowing sediments and associated pollutants to settle out. A marshland can prevent flooding in a nearby town bye temporarily storing water!

Kay [80]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that a box contains 12 chocolates, 3 of which are white chocolate, 4 milk chocolate, and 5 dark chocolate.

a)  the chance that I draw a dark chocolate

b) Given that none of my friends draws a dark chocolate,  the chance that I draw a dark chocolate is

\frac{5}{9} since now all 5 dark chocolates would be there and total changed to 9 because 3 friends took 1 each.

c) All four drawn milk chocolates would be

\frac{4C4}{12C4} \\=\frac{1}{495}

d) the chance that the friend who gets to select first draws a dark chocolate and I draw a dark chocolate too

=P(first friend draws a dark chocolate) * P(I draw a dark chocolate)

When it comes to me chances are either there are 4 dark, or 3 dark, or 1 dark depending upon the other two friends drew black or not

= \frac{5}{12} *\frac{7}{11} *\frac{6}{11} +2(\frac{5}{12} *\frac{4}{11} *\frac{7}{11} ) +\frac{5}{12} *\frac{4}{11} *\frac{4}{11} \\= \frac{140+280+80}{1452} \\=\frac{500}{1452} \\=\frac{125}{363}

Triangle sum theorem <br> WILL MARK BRAINLIEST
sergiy2304 [10]

Answer:

So for a hint to help you...when you are looking at a triangle on a 180 degree line, each angle adds up to 180 degrees. So for example, on #9 on the top of the triangle, one of the angles is 49 degrees so you want to subtract that from 180 ( 180 - 49 = X ) ( X = angle 1 and 2 ) so angle 1 and 2 added together equals X. In this case, ( X = 131 degrees ) Every triangle equals 180 degrees too. So since this angle has 3 different angles on the line, you can do the rest of the problems and come back to these because you can subtract angle 4 and 73 to get angle 2.

(still on #9) Angle 3, as you can see only has one other number beside it (73) so it makes this one very easy. ( 180 - 73 = X ) ( X = 107 )  <u>Angle 3 = 107 degrees</u>

<u></u>

Angle 5. Subtract the 49 above angle 5 from 180 and the result will be angle 5. ( 180 - 49 = X ) ( X = Angle 5 ) <u>X/angle 5 = 131.</u>

Now you can get angle 4, which gives you angle 2 and 1. ( 180 - 131 = Angle 4 ) <u>(Angle 4 = 49)</u>

Angle 2. In the triangle, we have 73 degrees, and 49 degrees. So the equation for this one is, ( 180 - 73 - 49 = Angle 2 ) ( Angle 2 = 58 )

Angle 1. On this line, we have 49 degrees and 2=58 degrees. ( 180 - 58 - 49 = Angle 1 ) <u>( Angle 1 = 73 )</u>

<u></u>

Lastly, Angle 3. The side of this triangle will also equal 180, just like the top line. Angle 1 = 73 degrees so as you now know, subtract that from 180 and get angle 3. ( 180 - 73 = Angle 3 ) <u>(Angle 3 = 107 )</u>

<u></u>

1: 73  degrees

2: 58 degrees

3: 107 degrees

4: 49 degrees

5: 131 degrees

I know this is a lot to read, but I really hope I explained it to where you can understand it now.

Given that W is directly proportional to the square of V, and W = 320 when V = 8, find W when V = 9.
lorasvet [3.4K]

The value of W when V = 9 is 405

<h3>How to solve for W?</h3>

The variation is a direct variation from W to V^2.

This means that:

W = kV^2

Where k is the constant of variation.

W = 320 when V = 8 means that:

320 = k * 8^2

Evaluate

320 = 64k

Divide both sides by 64

k = 5

Substitute k = 5 in W = kV^2

W = 5V^2

When V = 9, we have:

W = 5 * 9^2

Evaluate

W = 405

Hence, the value of W when V = 9 is 405
