The second scenario, "Beetles of a different color", is an example of evolution.

Explanation:

Since evolution is defined as a change in gene frequency overtime, over generations, it is in the second example that we see such a phenomenon taking place. Brown beetles have become more common as opposed to the green beetle population that were the ancestors in this case.
