Jefferson feared that the French wanted to establish an America empire that would restrict access from the northwest to the rest of the United States. At first Jefferson only wanted to purchase the city of New Orleans to ensure American access to the Mississippi River and trade routes to the eastern America.

Andrew Jackson was the first president to forcefully assert the idea that the president rather than Congress should take the lea
Yuri [45]

Answer:

True. As a former US Lawyer, Senator and the 7th President of the United States of America, Andrew JAckson championed this idea of the president bieng incharge of the national policy issues rather than leaving it in the hand of the Congress.

He is known as the peoples president due to the series of policies he initiated like the support of individual liberty, the policy that caused the forced migration of the native Americans etc.

His use of the veto power is also another way which he demonstrated the idea that the president rather than congress should take the lead in national policy issues. A typical example is the bill on the bill through Congress to re-charter the second bank of America (institution) which he vetoed (the rejection of the bill) because it encourages the advancement of the few individual at the expense of other citizens.

What was galileo forced to say during his trial ?
Sonbull [250]

Answer:

During his trial for suspicion of heresy, Galileo chose his words carefully. It was only after the trial, angered by his conviction no doubt, that he was said to have muttered to the inquisitors, “Eppur si muove”(“And yet it moves)”, as if to say that they may have won this battle, but in the end, truth would win out.
