Find f(3).<br><br> f(x) = x2 + 5x - 9<br> A) 7 <br> B) 10 <br> C) 9 <br> D) 15
Lelechka [254]

Answer:

f(3) = 15. Correct: D)

Explanation:

<u>Numeric Value of a Function</u>

The value of a function f(x) when x = a is calculated by replacing the x for a. We have the function:

f(x)=x^2+5x-9

It is required to find f(3), or the numeric value of f when x=3. Replace x for 3

f(3)=3^2+5(3)-9

f(3)=9+15-9

f(3)=15

A) Incorrect. f(3) is not 7

B) Incorrect. f(3) is not 10

C) Incorrect. f(3) is not 9

D) Correct. f(3) =15 as found above.

A person needs to fill 18 water jugs with a hose. Filling the first 3 jugs has taken 5 minutes. How long to finish filling the r
lyudmila [28]

Answer:

10.8 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data

We are told that the number of Jugs is 18

Filling the first 3 jugs has taken 5 minutes

let us find the filling rate

Rate= 3/5

Rate= 0.6 Jugs per minute

Hence the rate of filling is 0.6 Jugs per minute

Therefore the time take to fill the remaining 16 jugs is

TIme= Rate*Number of Jugs

TIme= 0.6*18

Time= 10.8 minutes

A computer company wants to determine the proportion of defective computer chips from a day's production. A
ozzi

Answer:

0.12 ± 1.96 * √(0.12(0.88) / 100)

Step-by-step explanation:

Confidence interval :

Phat ± Zcritical * √(phat(1 -phat) / n)

Phat = 12/100 = 0.12

1 - phat = 0.88

Zcritical at 95% = 1.96

Hence, we have :

0.12 ± 1.96 * √(0.12(0.88) / 100)

0.12 ± 1.96 * 0.0324961

0.12 ± 0.0636924

Lower boundary = (0.12 - 0.0636924) = 0.0563

Upper boundary = 0.12 + 0.0636924 = 0.1837
