This artifact is called the Rosetta Stone. It was discovered on July 19th, 1799, and it helped archeologists and scientists finding out what the hieroglyphs meant.
<em>(Note: There was the text written in Egyptian </em>hieroglyphs<em> on the Rosetta Stone, but there was also a Greek translation of the text written on the stone too. Because people knew Greek, they were able to understand Egyptian using the stone.)</em>
