Observe that the x coords of the roots of a polynomial are,

x_{1,2,3,4}=\{-3,0,1,4\}

Which can be put into form,

y=a(x-x_1)(x-x_2)(x-x_3)(x-x_4)

with data

y=a(x-(-3))(x-0)(x-1)(x-4)=ax(x+3)(x-1)(x-4)

Now if I take any root point and insert it into the equation I won't be able to solve for y because they will always multiply to zero (ie. when I pick x=-3 the right hand side will multiply to zero,

y=-3a(-3+3)(-3-1)(-3-4)=0

and a will be "lost" in the process.

If we observed a non-root point that we could substitute with x and y and result in a non-loss process then you could find a. But since there is no such point (I don't think you can read it of the graph) there is no other viable way to find a.

Hope this helps :)

What is the solution to this equation?<br><br> 0.25 (16x + 12) + 2x = 33
WITCHER [35]
.25(16x + 12) + 2x = 33
The first step is to distribute the .25 to what's inside the parentheses!
((16x*.25) +(12*.25)) + 2x = 33
Simplify...
4x + 3 +2x = 33
Add like terms...
6x + 3 = 33
Subtract three from both sides
6x + 3 - 3 = 33 - 3
Simplify
6x = 30
Divide each side by six
6x/6 = 30/6
Simplify
x = 5
That's your answer; x = 5! Hope this helped :)

aksik [14]
<h2>The surface area of the cube is 0.375 square units.</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The formula for the surface area of a cube is SA=6s^2, where s is the length of one side of the cube if s=\frac{1}{4} of a unit.

To find : What is the surface area, in square units, of the cube?

Solution :

The formula for the surface area of a cube is SA=6s^2

We have given,  s=\frac{1}{4}

Substitute in the formula,

SA=6(\frac{1}{4})^2

SA=6\times \frac{1}{16}

SA= \frac{3}{8}

SA=0.375  square units.

Therefore, the surface area of the cube is 0.375 square units.

Residuals
PolarNik [594]

Answer:

  1. predicted attendance: 141.35

  2. residual: 18.65

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Predicted attendance is ...

  y = -5.9·5 +170.85 = 141.35

__

2. As the problem statement tells you, ...

  actual value - predicted value = residual

  160 - 141.35 = 18.65 . . . the residual

Which point is a solution to the inequality shown in this graph?
sergey [27]

Good morning

Answer:

B: (1, 5)

Step-by-step explanation:

This graph shows the solutions to the inequality: y > (1/3)x - 2

Since, 5 > (1/3)×1 - 2 then the point (1 ,5) is a solution to the inequality.
