Identify the values of the variables. Give your answers in simplest radical form. PLEASE HELP!!
Talja [164]

First question:

By definition of sine and cosine, we have

\sin30^\circ=\dfrac h{\sqrt5}\implies h=\dfrac{\sqrt5}2

\cos30^\circ=\dfrac g{\sqrt5}\implies g=\dfrac{\sqrt{15}}2

Second question:

By definition of tangent, we have

\tan60^\circ=\dfrac{5\sqrt2}x\implies x=\dfrac{5\sqrt2}{\sqrt3}=\dfrac{5\sqrt6}3

Then by Pythagoras' theorem,

(5\sqrt2)^2+x^2=y^2\implies y=\sqrt{(5\sqrt2)^2+\left(\dfrac{5\sqrt6}3\right)^2}=\sqrt{50+\dfrac{50}3}=\sqrt{\dfrac{200}3}=\dfrac{10\sqrt6}3

Write and equation in slope intercept form (y=mx+b) for the graph below
soldier1979 [14.2K]

Answer:

y=1/3x+0 or y=1/3x

Step-by-step explanation:

find the slope by taking two points and putting them in

y2 - y1/x2 - x1

so, (3,1) and (6,2) becomes 2-1/6-3 or 1/3 so, slope is 1/3

then to find y intercept you can put a point (6,2) and slope (1/3) into slope intercept form y - y1 = m(x - x1)

y - 2 = 1/3(x-6)

when you solve this you get y = 1/3x + 0, so y intercept is 0. you can also see. this on the graph given

How do you solve this and what is the answer?
Sladkaya [172]
We want to get rid of the square root sign somehow, so let's isolate that term.

2\sqrt{\frac{3x}{5}} + 3 = 11
2\sqrt{\frac{3x}{5}} = 11 - 3 = 8
\sqrt{\frac{3x}{5}} = 4

Now, in order to 'undo' a root sign, we need to do the opposite to it, by squaring the term, but in order for it to remain the same, we need to square 4 as well.

\frac{3x}{5} = 16

Now, we can isolate the variable:
3x = 5 \cdot 16 = 80
x = \frac{80}{3}, and since we can't simplify this further, our final answer becomes:

x = \frac{80}{3} or x = 26\frac{2}{3}

Y varies inversely with x, if y = -12 when x = 8 what is x when y = -9
Minchanka [31]

Answer:

either 5 or 11

Step-by-step explanation:

(8, -12)

(5, -9) or (11, -9)

If y varies consistently with x then it would copy what happens, in a manner of speaking.

In this case, y increases by three, x would either add 3 or subtract 3

I am not completely sure on this.
