Which of these statements is part of the teachings of Epicurus?
MakcuM [25]

Answer:

C. The way to be happy is to avoid pain.

Explanation:

Epicurus was a philosopher in ancient Greek, who developed the school of thought  known as Epicureanism. He was born in the year 341 BC and died in 270 BC. The basic idea of this philosophy is that the senses are to be greatly relied on to find explanations to several issues.

Epicurus believed that man should endeavor to avoid pain, because when there is no pain, then the greatest happiness can be achieved. His idea of the senses as a logical way of explaining issues was rejected by other philosophers who believed that, 'reason' was a better explanation of why things happen.

Which of these statements about the Prohibition Era are true? Check all of the boxes that apply.
lord [1]
The goal of Prohibition was to get rid of the sale, manufacture, and transportation of alcohol in the US. Even though this was a federal law, thousands of American citizens all over the country broke this law. One way they broke this law was by going to speakeasies. Speakeasies were secret bars that people could go to in order to obtain alcohol. Even though this went against the 18th amendment (the law that made alcohol illegal), thousands of Americans opened these speakeasies due to the fact that Americans were willing to pay a large amount of money for alcohol.

Along with the speakeasies, people found other ways to obtain alcohol. Bootleggers, people who illegally transported alcohol, helped to begin organized crime rings all over the country. This increase in crime rates also lead to increased violence (like a higher homicide rate), as gangs competed for business. Overall, Prohibition failed to reduce crime and reduce alcohol consumption rates.

In your own words, explain the message the government was trying to give to the people of the Soviet Union by using propaganda.
Arte-miy333 [17]

Answer:

Governments on both sides of the conflict invested in printed matter that rallied public sentiments of nationalism and support for the war while also encouraging animosity toward the enemy. During wartime, large-format, full-color posters plastered walls from city streets to classrooms.

Posters tried to persuade men to join friends and family who had already volunteered by making them feel like they were missing out. The fear and the anger that people felt against air raids was used to recruit men for the armed services. Posters urged women to help the war effort.

The overall message produced by the propaganda poster is that real men will enlist in the war effort in the belief that their future children will be proud to know that their fathers did their part.
