Answer and Step-by-step explanation:

The mistake is that the sign (<) isn't flipped.

When a negative number is multiplied, the sign of the inequality flips to go the other way, so < would go >.

The mistake occurs in the second to last line. When you divide both sides by a negative number, the inequality sign should flip.

So the answer should be x > -5 instead of x < -5.

---------------------------

Here's why the inequality sign flips

Let's start with the inequality -2x < 10. Add 2x to both sides and we get 0 < 10+2x which is the same as 0 < 2x+10

Then subtract 10 from both sides to end up with -10 < 2x

We can flip both sides of -10 < 2x to end up with 2x > -10. Note the inequality sign flips, as well as the left and right sides.

Afterward, we solve 2x > -10 by dividing both sides by 2 to get x > -5. The inequality sign does not flip when we divide both sides by a positive number.

What is the mean, median, and standard deviation for the following set of scores: 24, 20, 16, 18, 18, 26, 22? Please show your w
MissTica

Answer:

first: Definitions

mean: the average or the most common value in a collection of numbers

(So u add all numbers and then divide the answer by how much numbers there were)

median: Is middle value.

(example:   4, 5, 6) (The median will be the middle which is 5) (But if there are even amount of numbers like this:      4, 5, 6, 7) (Then you will get the two middle numbers which in this case are 5 and 6 you add them and then divide by 2.)

standard deviation:  measures the spread of the data about the mean value

Step-by-step explanation:

Now lets get to problem!

we have numbers:

24, 20, 16, 18, 18, 26, 22

the mean will be: 144 (remember now you have to divide by 7 because there are 7 numbers.)

So it would be 20.57

Now the median:

(Since there are 7 numbers you just find the number in the middle and that would be ur median.)

24, 20, 16, 18, 18, 26, 22

median answer: 18

Like we said: The sample standard deviation measures the spread of a data distribution of the sample. It is usually used to estimate the population standard deviation

So the standard deviation will be: 3.6

I hope this helps  :)

What is the value of m in the equation 4m + 2(m + 1) = 9m + 5
ratelena [41]
M=-1

4m+2(m+1)=9m +5
4m+2m+2=9m+5
6m+2=9m+5
6m+2-6m= 9m+5-6m
2-5=3m+5-5
-3/3=3m/3
m=-1
