Bridget is on her middle school’s basketball team. In it’s last game, her team made 31 of it’s shots. Some of those were free th

rows, worth 1 point each, & some of those were regular field goals, worth 2 points each. The team didn’t make any 3 pointers and finished the game with 49 points. This system of equations can be used to represent the situation

Total shots made by the team = 31

Equation for the shots will be,

x + y = 31 ------(1)

If the team gets 1 point for free throws and 2 points for a regular field goal,

x + 2y = 49 --------(2)
