Answer:

since the 2 triangle sides are equal just add them up to be another rectangle, and since we need volume just multiply the numbers and add, 11.75*12 and 11*9 which are 141 and 99 and when added becomes 240, to find the cost multiply by the 4.25 to get $1020

Ivan
The answer is:  [A]:  " 20a − 5b − 9 " .

Explanation:
_______________________________________________
  (12a + 7b) + (−6a − 9) + (14a − 12b) =

   12a + 7b  +  1(−6a − 9) + 1(14a − 12b) =

   12a + 7b + (1*-6a) + (1*-9) + (1*14a) + (1* -12b) =

    12a + 7b − 6a − 9 + 14a − 12b =  ?

Combine the "like terms:

12a − 6a  + 14a = 20a ;

7b − 12b =  - 5b ;

and then we have "-9" ;
