Chancellor Manufacturing makes two pumps for use in household reef aquariums. The Standard pump (Model A) requires 4.5 lbs of st

ainless steel while the Deluxe lightweight pump (Model B) 3.0 lbs of stainless steel. There are 63 lbs of stainless steel available during this production period. The combined production of both pumps must be at least 12 pumps. There are orders for at least 6 of the lightweight Model B. Lastly, management has decided that no more than 15 Model B pumps be produced.
Required:
a. Write the LP formulation which provides the optimal production schedule for the standard and deluxe pumps such that the cost is minimized.
b. Write the above LP formulation in Standard Form.
c. Using your grid page, graph the above LP formulation. Be sure to label axes, constraints, and the feasible region.

Answer:

The answer is below

Step-by-step explanation:

Chancellor Manufacturing makes two pumps for use in household reef aquariums. The Standard pump (Model A) requires 4.5 lbs of stainless steel while the Deluxe lightweight pump (Model B) 3.0 lbs of stainless steel. There are 63 lbs of stainless steel available during this production period. The combined production of both pumps must be at least 12 pumps. There are orders for at least 6 of the lightweight Model B. Lastly, management has decided that no more than 15 Model B pumps be produced.

The cost to produce one Standard pump is $150 and to produce one Deluxe pump is $210.

Solution:

a) Let x represent model pump A and let y represent model pump B.

Since There are 63 lbs of stainless steel available, hence:

4.5x + 3y ≤ 63

Both pumps must be at least 12 pumps. Therefore:

x + y ≤ 12

There are orders for at least 6 of the lightweight Model B:

y ≥ 6

Also,  no more than 15 Model B pumps be produced:

y ≤ 15

The cost to produce one Standard pump is $150 and to produce one Deluxe pump is $210. The cost equation is:

Minimize Cost = 150x + 210y

b)

Hence the LP formation is:

Minimize Cost = 150x + 210y

4.5x + 3y ≤ 63

x + y ≤ 12

y ≥ 6

y ≤ 15

x ≥ 0.

c) The LP problem was solved using geogebra online graphing tool.

The points that satisfy the problem are:

(0, 6), (0,12), (6, 6)

At (0,6); cost = 150(0) + 210(6) = 1260

At (0,6); cost = 150(0) + 210(12) = 2520

At (6,6); cost = 150(6) + 210(6) = 2160

Hence the minimum cost is at (0, 6)

only 93% of the airplane parts being examined pass inspection. what is the probability that the next 5 parts examined will all p
DedPeter [7]

Answer:

Question 4 pts Only 93% of the airplane parts being examined pass Inspection: What is the probabllity that the next 5 parts examined will all pass inspection? (Write your probability a5 decimal rounded to the nearest thousandth or third decimal place):

Step-by-step explanation:

in order for us to find this probability here. What we're going to need to do is first ask ourselves if we were to just randomly select five parts, does one passing or felling affect the next one passing your fellow. And it really wouldn't um because one passing doesn't really say the next word should pass. And so because of that we know that this is going to be an independent event and if we have an independent event that's just really going to be where we multiply the probabilities of each live, it's occurring by themselves. So in this case it's just going to be the probability of one of them passing times 0.3 times the probability of the second one passing times. The probability of the third passing times. The fourth passing At times the 5th passing For just 0.93 Raised to the 5th power. So this is going to be the exact answer but they want it to three decimal places Which is going to be 0.6 956. So we round to three decimal so we have six and then we have five. So we would round it up To about 6.96. So this is going to be our probability or if you want you can change this into a decimal of 69.6%. But normally we would receive it as this decimal here. So either of these um would be good answers for what we have here

6/7 divided by 12/14 please show the work
Minchanka [31]

Answer:

1

Step-by-step explanation:

When dividing one fraction by another, the best way to solve it is to multiply by the reciprocal. The reciprocal just flipping the fraction over. So you would leave the 6/7 and the multiply by 14/12( because you are multiplying by the reciprocal). When you do that, you then can just multiply the top and the bottom to form one fraction. The numerator is 6*14 = 84, and the denominator is 7*14 = 84. So you are left with 84/84 which anything over itself is equal to one.

Hope this helps!

when two complex numbers are added the sum is 5+6i. If one of the numbers is -4-5i, what is the other number?
Dahasolnce [82]

Answer:

x = 9 + 11i

Step-by-step explanation:

let's make the other number x and add it with -4-5i, equate to 5+6i

- 4 - 5i + x = 5 + 6i

add 4 and 5i to both sides to get x on its own:

x = 5 + 6i + 4 + 5i

collect like terms. This is the other number.

x = 9 + 11i

14z - 3-6-52)<br> What is the answer to this ?
Viktor [21]

Answer:

4.36

Step-by-step explanation:

14z-3-6-52  (Add all the numbers with the negative sign together)

= 14z-61 (Equation equals 0)

0 = 14z - 61 (Add 61 to zero)

0+61 = 14z ( Note :- the negative sign before 61 changes to +ve upon moving to the left hand side)

61 = 14z (Divide both sides by 14)

61/14 = 14/14

4.357 = z

z = 4.36
