Well, for one, I'm not a basic straight white teen. I'm Chicana and pansexual. I am, in fact, cisgender, but I am a transgender ally. My parents both grew up pretty poor, so that trickled down to me. Basically, we don't have money to blow on PlayStations and HotTopic like other teens. (Gas station meals for the win!) Sometimes I feel like my mindset is more developed than others (probably a result of growing up too fast due to no siblings to play with) because I prefer debates and 'adult' discussions.
