The American Dream today has devolved into just trying to be able to pay for everything. That's my answer; if there even is still an American Dream.

America tends to glorify money the most; you have to make money, you have to have a home, you have to pay all of this by yourself, you have to buy this product to look and feel beautiful, you have to buy the latest technology; it's disheartening and exhausting. The act of purchasing things is the most glorified thing in America. Almost everywhere you look, there's an ad; and usually those few places you look and see no ads for is because it's a nonprofit!

Question: Write a Persuasive Essay on the following topic:
Scilla [17]

Answer:

Fashion is not important.

Explanation:

I believe that when you get dressed in  the morning, it shouldn't be to impress anyone, but to be comfortable. Most girls want to impress the boys by wearing dresses or extremely skinny jeans.  I don't wear either of those. I am in a pair of comfy jeans, a t-shirt, and a hoodie.

I have always gone for the comfort of knowing that i am being myself. I don't try to be who I am not. the girls who wear dresses most likely wear t-shirts and pants wile at home and only get dressed up for dates or going out of the house.

Some girls say that they are just comfortable in the dresses and the skinny jeans. Others say it is because they want to impress the boys. I think that the girls who say that they are comfy in the dresses and skinny jeans are just saying that so then that they won't be accuse of being scandalous.

In conclusion, fashion is not important. Most people dress for comfort while others don't. Don't try t be someone you aren't, just be you. No mater how you look, act, or talk, if the boy doesn't like you for who you are, then he isn't good for you.

Write a poem about "My Burden"
OleMash [197]
             My burden
This heavy weight, I cannot lift,
This "easiness" doesn't exist,
The bright side disappeared
While you left me here
Though you held me sharpened,
<span>You always left me burdened.</span>

Reread lines 67–78. How does Tough think OneGoal might be improved? Support your answer with explicit textual evidence.
velikii [3]

Answer:

Tough thinks that OneGoal needs improvement as only 66% of the students remain enrolled in the college after graduating from high school.

Explanation:

The given text is taken from the book entitled ' How  Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Character' written by Paul Tough. The book is based on Tough's research on OneGoal Program. OneGoal is a program that works to encourage students for postsecondary education.

In the article titled 'Kewauna’s  Ambition' taken from his book, Tough says that OneGoal needs improvement. He asserts this based on the statistics that only 66% of the students remain enrolled in the college after graduating from high school. He asserts that even Jeff Nelson, CEO of OneGoal, would agree that the program is way beyond perfect solution at present.

<u>Textual Evidence</u>:

<em>'Jeff Nelson would be the first to admit that what he has created is far from a perfect solution for the widespread dysfunction of the country’s human-capital pipeline.'</em>

What does Nick say about people like Daisy and Tom?
ruslelena [56]
Nick calls Tom and Daisy “careless people” because he recognizes them as selfish, insensitive individuals who take advantage of people and retreat back into their money without accepting responsibility for their actions. After spending time with the Buchanans, Nick is appalled by their lifestyle and reckless decisions.
