Suppose the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) wants to examine the safety of compact cars, midsize cars, and full-size

cars. It collects a sample of three for each of the treatments (cars types). Using the hypothetical data provided below, test whether the mean pressure applied to the driver’s head during a crash test is equal for each types of car. Use α = 5%. A beam of white light goes from air into the water droplet at an incidence angle of 36.2 degrees. what is the angle between the
torisob [31]

A beam of white light goes from air into the water droplet at an incidence angle. The angle between the red (660 nm) and violet (410 nm) parts of the refracted light is 0.19°.

What is white light?

The white light is the ray coming directly from the Sun. When it strikes any glass object, an spectrum of colors with different wavelength is formed.

Given is the angle of incidence, i = 36.2°, the refractive index of water for red light is 1.331 , the refractive index of water for violet light is 1.340 and refractive index of air is 1.

Using the Snell's law, the angle of refraction of red light will be

1.331 x sin r(R) = 1 x sin 36.2

r(R) = 26.342°

Using the Snell's law, the angle of refraction of violet light will be

1.340 x sin r(R) = 1 x sin 36.2

r (V) = 26.152°

Difference in the angle of refraction of red and violet light is

r(R) - r (V) = 26.342 - 26.152 = 0.19°

Thus, the angle between the red (660 nm) and violet (410 nm) parts of the refracted light is 0.19°.
