The Enlightenment was a time when people realized the government only worked with the concent of the people.
It depends on the camp. Some were treated okay compared to others. The bad one's camps starved and beat the people. Others had some food. Not every camp was okay. Most didn't have good living conditions. Many died.
I don’t think there is anyone or anything specific that determines our worldview. People who we have met throughout life can have an influence on us. Events and situations that we’ve been through and experienced can shape our reality and define how we perceive and view the world/everything around us. Which is why everyone has a different perspective on everything. We’ve all been through different things. Depending on wether it was positive or negative might just determine how you see the world (worldview)
They wanted friendly countries, so that they would be safe from invasion. There was a deep fear of communism in the states.
