ALL LINES CAN BE REPRESENTED IN THE FORM f(x) = ax+b.

We know that:

f(1) = -5 \implies a\cdot(1)+b = -5 \implies a+b = -5

and

f(3) = -17 \implies a\cdot(3) +b = -17 \implies 3a+b = 17

Observe that:

3a+b = 2a+a+b = 2a+(a+b)

So:

2a+(a+b) =-17

But we know that a+b = -5, so:

2a+(a+b) =-17

2a+(-5) = -17

2a = -12

a = -6

Since:

a+b = -5

(-6)+b = -5

b = 1

So the line is:

f(x) = 1-6x

Note:
The area of a circle with radius r is πr².
An entire circle has a central angle of 360°.

For the sector with radius = (3+4) = 7cm and a central angle of 120°, the area is
A_{1}= \frac{120}{360}*(49 \pi ) = \frac{49}{3} \pi \, cm^{2}

For the sector with radius =  3 cm and a central angle of 120°. the area is
A_{2}= \frac{120}{360} *(9 \pi ) = 3 \pi  \, cm^{2}

The area of the shaded sector (see the figure) is
A=A_{1}-A_{2} = ( \frac{49}{3} -3) \pi  =  \frac{40}{3} \pi  \, cm^{2}

Answer: \frac{40}{3}  \pi  \, cm^{2}

Help, I tried it, but I keep getting the wrong answers
Aneli [31]

Answer:

my answer would be that

x = 17.91cm

(i'm not sure about it either but it's worth a try) !!

Step-by-step explanation:

so first off, using the equation given,

" c² = a² + b² — 2ab cos C "

we substitute the values in as,

a = 16

b = 30

then for C is the angle given, which is 30°

so the equation is now,

c² = (16)² + (30)² — 2(16)(30) cos 30°

now, you solve the two squared numbers and the back equation, also known as " 2ab cos C " with your scientific calculator.

so it now equals to,

c² = 256 + 900 — 960(0.87)

c² = 320.8

at last, when you have " c² = 320.8 " ,

remember to square root the answer so you have a smaller value.

so,

c equals to

\sqrt{320.8}

your final answer for the x value will be 17.91

(i hope this helps!)

6. Find the value of x in the triangle below.
Kobotan [32]

Answer:

The value of x is 21.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since this is a right angle triangle, you can apply Pythagoras theorem, side² + side² = hypo² :

(x + 3)² + 10² = (x + 5)²

x² + 6x + 9 + 100 = x² + 10x + 25

x² + 6x + 109 - x² - 10x - 25 = 0

-4x + 84 = 0

-4x = -84

4x = 84

x = 84 ÷ 4

x = 21 units

A phone is 35 percent off which is now worth 78 pounds what was the original price
Black_prince [1.1K]

Answer:

120 pounds

Step-by-step explanation:

65% of y= 78 pounds

\frac{65}{100} × y = 78 pounds

65y = 78  × 100=7800

y= 7800/65= 120 pounds
