Which statement is true about figures ABCD and A′B′C′D′? (1 point)
sladkih [1.3K]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

A'B'C'D' is obtained by rotating ABCD 180° counterclockwise about the origin and then reflecting it across the x-axis.

A(2, -2) is mapped to A'(-2, -2)

B(1, -4) is mapped to B'(-1, -4)

C(0, -2) is mapped to C'(0, -2)

D(1, -1) is mapped to D'(-1, -1)

If we rotate counterclockwise 180°, every point (x, y) is mapped to (-x, -y):

A(2, -2) gets mapped to (-2, 2)

B(1, -4) gets mapped to (-1, 4)

C(0, -2) gets mapped to (0, 2)

D(1, -1) gets mapped to (-1, 1)

Reflecting these images across the x-axis will then map (x, y) to (x, -y):

(-2, 2) gets mapped to (-2, -2)

(-1, 4) gets mapped to (-1, -4)

(0, 2) gets mapped to (0, -2)

(-1, 1) gets mapped to (-1, -1)

These new coordinates are the same as A'B'C'D'.

The following parts refer to the letters: LAMEFIREALARM. Recall that "word" means distinguishable letter arrangements. (a) How m
larisa86 [58]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The word "LAMEFIREALARM" word consists of

2L , 2M, 2E , 2R , 3A , F and I

no of words with the above letters such that M's are not together

=Total No of words- M's are together

Total no of words=\frac{13!}{4\times 2!\times 3!}=64,864,800

When M's are together . considering 2 M's as one

therefore there are \frac{12!}{3\times 2!\times 3!}=9,979,200

No of ways=\frac{13!}{4\times 2!\times 3!}-\frac{12!}{3\times 2!\times 3!}=54,885,600

(b)No of ways such that M's are separated by at least 2 letters

at least  2 letter means 2 letter, 3 letter ......11 letters

So we have to subtract no of ways where there are 1 letter in between M's from total no of ways where 2 M's are not next to each other

No of ways in which there is 1 letter between 2 M's

This can be done by considering 11 cases

In first case Place first M in Starting Position and 2 M on third place

Second case place First M in 2 nd Position and second M on 4 th place

Similarly For 11th case

Place first M in 11th place and second M on 13th place

Total ways

=\frac{11\times 11!}{3!\times 2!\times 2!\times 2!}

So , the total number of arrangements of the letters of the word LAMEFIREALARM where the two M's are separated by atleast two letters is

=\frac{13!}{4\times 2!\times 3!}-\frac{12!}{3\times 2!\times 3!}-\frac{11\times 11!}{3!\times 2!\times 2!\times 2!}

Finf the exact value of sin A and cos A where a = 9 and b = 10 and <c is a right angle
Katyanochek1 [597]
To solve for the longest side, the hypotenuse, you have to use the pythagorean theorem. It will be 10^2 + 9^2 = c^2. 100 + 81 =c^2.
c^2 = 181 so c = sqrt(181).
to find sin of A do opposite/hypotenuse which gives you 9/sqrt(181)
to find cos of A do adjacent/hypotenuse which gives you 10/sqrt(181)

What are the solutions to the following system?
bija089 [108]

The solutions are (\sqrt{2},-1) \text { and }(-\sqrt{2},-1).

Solution:

Given equation:

-2 x^{2}+y=-5

Add 2 x^{2} on both sides.

-2 x^{2}+y+2 x^{2}=-5+2 x^{2}

y=-5+2 x^{2} -------- (1)

y=-3 x^{2}+5 (given)  -------- (2)

Equate (1) and (2).

-5+2 x^{2}=-3 x^{2}+5

Add 3 x^{2} on both sides.

-5+2 x^{2}+3 x^{2}=-3 x^{2}+5 +3 x^{2}

-5+5x^{2}=5

Add 5 on both sides.

-5+5x^{2}+5=5+5

5x^{2}=10

Divide by 5 on both sides, we get

x^{2}=2

Taking square root on both sides, we get

x=\sqrt{2}, x=-\sqrt{2}

Substitute x=\sqrt{2} in (1).

y=-5+2(\sqrt{2})^2

y=-5+4

y=-1

Substitute x=-\sqrt{2} in (1).

y=-5+2(-\sqrt{2})^2

y=-5+4

y=-1

Therefore the solutions are (\sqrt{2},-1) \text { and }(-\sqrt{2},-1).

Option C is the correct answer.
