Answer:

A. Yes

B. –176 °C

Explanation:

A. Yes

B. Determination of the new temperature of the gas.

Let the initial pressure be P

From the question given above, the following data were obtained.

Initial pressure (P1) = P

Initial temperature (T1) = 19 °C

Final pressure (P2) = ⅓ P1 = ⅓P = P/3

Final temperature (T2) =?

Next, we shall convert 19 °C to Kelvin temperature. This can be obtained as follow:

T(K) = T(°C) + 273

Initial temperature (T1) = 19 °C

Initial temperature (T1) = 19 °C + 273

Initial temperature (T1) = 292 K

Since the volume is constant, we can obtain the new temperature of the gas as illustrated below:

Initial pressure (P1) = P

Initial temperature (T1) = 292 K

Final pressure (P2) = P/3

Final temperature (T2) =?

P1/T1 = P2/T2

P/292 = P/3 /T2

P/292 = P/3T2

Cross multiply

P × 3T2 = 292 × P

Divide both side by P

3T2 = (292 × P)/P

3T2 = 292

Divide both side by 3

T2 = 292/3

T2 = 97.33 ≈ 97 K

Finally, we shall convert 97 K to celcius temperature. This can be obtained as follow:

T(°C) = T(K) – 273

T(K) = 97

T(°C) = 97 – 273

T(°C) = –176 °C

Thus, the new temperature of the gas is –176 °C.

prohojiy [21]

Explanation:

A point of temperature at which both solid and liquid state of a substance remains in equilibrium without any change in temperature then this temperature is known as melting point.

For example, melting point of water is 0 ^{o}C. So, at this temperature solid state of water and liquid state are present in equilibrium with each other.

Therefore, when a 100 g of given pure metal in solid state is heated at its exact melting point which is 215^{o}C then some of the solid will change into liquid state but the temperature will remains the same.

Does mint actually cool things down
PtichkaEL [24]
The cooling of a mint is just a sensation if you were to put mints into warm water the water would remain warm because it is just a cooling sensation. I hope this helps:)

Why do gases diffuse more quickly than liquids?
Alborosie

Answer:

D)Gas particles move rapidly and have space between them.

Explanation:

Matter exists in three states namely: solids, liquids and gases. The particles contained in these three states are different from one another. In the gaseous state, the particles are FAR APART from one another i.e. space exists and they move at a very fast rate in contrast to the particles of a liquid, which have less space and move slower.

This rapid movement of gas particles within a less restricted space accounts for the reason why gaseous substances DIFFUSE more quickly than liquids.
