Answer:

C. Genes in DNA code for the production of proteins, which cause traits to be expressed.

Explanation:

A. Enzymes break down DNA, releasing amino acids that join to form proteins and express various traits. - this is false. DNA is not made up of amino acids, it is made up of nucleotides.

B. DNA is mutated by a chemical passed from parents to offspring to form proteins that express traits. - this is false. DNA itself is passed from parents to offspring. The DNA is transcribed into mRNA which is translated into proteins that express traits.

C. Genes in DNA code for the production of proteins, which cause traits to be expressed. - this is true. Genes are sections of DNA that encode for specific proteins. The structure and activity of these proteins determines all the functions in the cell and the body, and therefore specify all our traits.

D. Proteins bind to DNA, which activates them and forces them to express certain traits. - this is false. While proteins bind to DNA, this is not what causes them to become active and carry out their function to specify traits.

Scientist have been measuring increasing levels of greenhouse gases in Earth's atmosphere. How do increasing levels affect the a
rjkz [21]

Well, we have a book to write on this topic but imma explain it briefly plus simply.

  • Global warming emphasizes the environment with rising temperatures, water shortages, increased fire threats, droughts, weeds and pest attacks, severe storm damage and salt attacks, to name just a few.(In simple words)

Now, we'd go briefly and discuss some common affects briefly :

  1. Hotter days - The climate is getting more and more warmer and year 2015 was the hottest year ever record throughout the history. The Earth's temperature had already warmed by 1°C which is really dangerous.
  2. Rising sea levels - Rising sea levels due to climate change is the biggest problem causing natural calamities. Increased ocean temperatures are melting glaciers and ice caps all over the world. Melted ice increases the volume of water in our oceans. Warmer temperatures also result in the expansion of the water's mass, which causes sea levels to rise, threatening islands and coastal cities.
  3. More frequent and intense extreme weather - Extreme weather events like bushfires, cyclones, droughts and floods are becoming more common and more aggressive as a result of global warming.

Hope it helps <3

How can human beings work to combat and reduce the many negative impacts to the planet?<br> I
Aleks04 [339]

Answer:

  • Use more renewable resources (solar, wind, hydroelectric, etc) and fewer fossil fuels (coal, petroleum, and natural gas), since fossil fuels produce a lot of carbon dioxide
  • Eat less livestock (farm animals, such as cows, produce a lot of methane and waste) and possibly become vegetarian/vegan
  • Decrease deforestation (trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen)
  • Recycle/reuse more items to decrease the amount of trash in oceans, forests, and other ecosystems
