With a wooden ruler, you measure the length of a rectangular piece of sheet metal to be 14 mm. With micrometer calipers, you mea

sure the width of the rectangle to be 4.98 mm. Give your answers to the following questions using the correct number of significant figures.
What is:

a. the area of the rectangle.
b. the ratio of the rectangle’s width to its length.
c. the perimeter of the rectangle.
d. the difference between the length and the width.

Answer:

Follows are the solution to the given question:

Explanation:

The rectangular part has a length of 14 \ mm and its rectangular part has a width of 4.98 \ mm.

In option A

Calculating the area of the rectangular throgh the given piece:

\to A_R = WL=(14 mm) (4.98 mm) =69.72 \ mm^2

In option B

Calculating the ratio of rectangle's width which is rectangle's length:

\to R_{WL}=\frac{W}{L}= \frac{4.98 \ mm}{14 \ mm} = 0.3557

So, the ratio of rectangle's width to rectangle's length is 0.3557  .

In option C

Calculating the Perimeter of the rectangle:

\to  P_R=2(W+L)=2(14 \ mm+ 4.98 \ mm)= 2(18.98) = 37.96 \ mm

In option D

Calculating the difference between length and width:

\to D_{LW} = L- W = 14\  mm -4.98 \ mm =9.02 \ mm

In option E

Calculating the ratio of length to width:

\to R_{LW}=\frac{L}{W} =\frac{14\ mm}{4.98 \ mm} = 2.811

compare the different ways a musician changes the pitch while playing a stringed instrument or playing a wind instrument
alexdok [17]
(This is from experience so sorry if it's wrong but) When wind instruments are played, sometimes the notes go flat or sharp depending on the speed the player blows air into the instrument as well as the warmth of the air. When playing a string instrument, the pitch can be changed in many ways. For example, when the player places their fingers on the string depending on which part of the tip of the finger you use, the tone of the sound and sometimes the pitch, changes. Looking at the question in a different way, you can change the pitch and the range of notes you can reach on the instrument (both wind and string) by changing the note you tune your instrument to. Hope this helps!!

An airplane went from 120 m/s to 180 m/s in 4.0 seconds. What was its acceleration?
scoundrel [369]
<span>15 m/s^2 The first thing to calculate is the difference between the final and initial velocities. So 180 m/s - 120 m/s = 60 m/s So the plane changed velocity by a total of 60 m/s. Now divide that change in velocity by the amount of time taken to cause that change in velocity, giving 60 m/s / 4.0 s = 15.0 m/s^2 Since you only have 2 significaant figures, round the result to 2 significant figures giving 15 m/s^2</span>

The electric field between the plates of a parallel-plate capacitor is horizontal, uniform, and has a magnitude E. Asmall object
kirza4 [7]

Answer:

m = 0.041 kg

Explanation:

As we know that the small particle is in equilibrium at an angle of 16 degree with the vertical

so here we can use force balance in vertical and horizontal direction

T cos\theta = mg

T sin\theta = qE

now from above equation we have

T = \sqrt{(mg)^2 + (qE)^2}

also by division of above two equations we have

\frac{qE}{mg} = tan\theta

qE = mg tan\theta

now from above equation again

T = \sqrt{(mg)^2 + (mg)^2 tan^2\theta}

T = mg sec\theta

0.420 = m(9.81) sec 16

m = 0.041 kg
