T-tubules or transverse tubules are the extensions of the cell membrane or into the sarcoplasm of the muscle cells.
The T-tubules play an important role in the movement of the muscle in response to the synaptic signals as they conduct the electrical impulse from the surface of the cell to the inside of the sarcoplasmic reticulum which is the storehouse of the calcium ions of the muscle cell.
