What does it mean for a differential equation to be autonomous?
andrew11 [14]
The term "autonomous" refers to an ordinary differential equation that relates the derivatives of the dependent variable as a function *only* of the dependent variable. In other words, the ODE doesn't explicitly depend on the independent variable.

Examples:

y'=y^2-1 is autonomous

y'=y^2-1+x is *not* autonomous

what is the fill in for the diagram drop downs drop down 1: is it a reflexive property, equivalent equation or transitive proper
chubhunter [2.5K]
Explanation:

Remember the following properties of real numbers:

Reflexive property:

This property states that a number is always equal to itself.

This property is different from the equivalent equations property. In fact, two equations that have the same solution are called equivalent equations,

Division property of equality:

This property states that when we divide both sides of an equation by the same non-zero number, the two sides remain equal.

Substitution property of equality:

This property states that if x = y, then x can be substituted in for y in any equation.

We can conclude that the correct answer is:

Answer:

Drop Down 1: reflexive property

Drop Down 2: division property of equality.

Drop Down 3: substitution

Which equation below gives an incorrect value for the function k(x) = 512x?
lina2011 [118]

Answer:

D. gives an incorrect value for the function k(x) = 512^{x}

Step-by-step explanation:

I think your question is missed of key information, allow me to add in and hope it will fit the original one.

<em>Which equation below gives an incorrect value for the function k(x) = </em>512^{x}<em>?</em>

<em>A.) k(2/3)=64 </em>

<em>B.) k(4/9)=16 </em>

<em>C.) k(1/3)=8 </em>

<em>D.) k(2/9)=8</em>

My answer:

Let analyse all 4 possible answers:

  • A.) k(2/3)=64

<=> k(2/3) = 512^{2/3} = 64

True

  • B.) k(4/9)=16

<=> k(4/9) = 512^{4/9}= 16

True

  • C. k(1/3)=8

<=>  k(1/3)= 512^{1/3}= 8

True

  • D. k(2/9)=8

<=> k(2/9) = 512^{2/9} = 4 not 8

Wrong

Hope it will find you well
