Young people are not informed or uneducated on politics. This may seem like a small issue, but it is actually an international issue with global outreach. Politics are not educated in our educational institutions, but that does not mean young people are disinterested in politics. It appeals to young people because they want to see a change in the world too and wants to participate in it. This may not affect others as much, but issues are prevalent in all parts of our society, whether in life or work (school). As generations place their purpose upon the world, politics appeal to them because they want to continue their ancestor’s legacy-to continue the fight that never ends.

What is the significance of "The Lottery" in Shirley Jackson's writing?
Damm [24]

Answer:

It is her most famous and most controversial story. She received lots of hate mail, even from her parents.

Explanation:

I could not find where it was her first short story. Another one, "Charles" was published in 1948, the same year as "The Lottery".

It is most definitely NOT a humorous story.

It was fiction.
