Harriet Tubman was a conductor  on what was called the underground railroad which was used to help many enslaved people escape to freedom in Canada .   When John Brown was a young man he and a group of former enslaved Americans that he had helped free attacked a group of pro slavery settlers in Kansas  and a few months later he an a group of enslaved Americans that he helped free raided a armory at Harpers ferry Virginia .

While he was enslaved Fredrick taught himself how to read and write and one day Fredrick and Group of African Americans attempted to escape slavery but everyone else was caught and captured but Fredrick was able to evade capture for many years and eventually he used what he had taught himself and he became a well liked anti slavery speaker and abolitionist .  William Garrison didn't agree on the subject of slavery so in 1831 he created his own newspaper  called the liberator in which he tried to convince people that slavery should be abolished until it was in 1865.
