Mordecai was a cousin of Esther, both were Jews and lived in a time when Jews were highly persecuted and hated in Persia. However, Mordecai had faith that God would act on behalf of the Jews and free them from persecution. For this reason, he and Esther pretended not to be Jews so that she could enter the harem of the king of Persia, become queen and help her people to be set free. However, he had faith that even if she did nothing, God would deliver his people in some other way. Thus, we can infer Mordecai's faith in two ways:
