Secondly, it will teach us that there is life that can survive in extremely harsh environments. This will also allow us to examine and understand the biological mechanisms that allow these microbes to survive in these environments. This alone can open up hundreds of doors in science, allowing us to develop new technology, theories, fields etc. There is so much that we can learn about life in general from a single living alien microbe.
