Which of the following geological features forms at a subduction zone between an oceanic and a continental plate? A. The lithosp
Elena-2011 [213]

Answer:

Continental shelf

Explanation:

The subdustion zones between the oceanic tectonic plates and continental tectonic plates go in both ways when it comes to the lithosphere. They are both destructive and constructive. With the subduction zone occurring, the crust from the oceanic plate gets into the mantle, gets melted, and thus destroyed. On the other hand, this type of boundary enables the magma from the mantle to penetrate through the crust and reach the surface. As the magma reaches the surface, it starts to create volcanoes, be it in the form of island arcs or continental arcs. The volcanoes then release lot of lava from them on the surface, and this lava cools off and creates new layers of rock. The uplifting volcanoes, as well as the push of the plate that subducts, results in creating a shellow and relatively flat part of the ocean which is alongside the coastline. This shallow and flat part of the ocean is known as continental shelf. The continental shelf is the part of the ocean that has the warmest water, the light penetrates through all of its waters, and it is the most abundant in life. It depth is relatively small.

Which of the following properties affect weathering rates. Select all that apply. ? Rock composition 2 Crystal size 2 Rock Prope
geniusboy [140]

Answer:

Option (1), (2), (3) and (4)

Explanation:

Weathering refers to the breakdown of rocks mechanically or chemically due to the factors such as temperature, rainfall, water and wind and these weathered materials are transported from one place to another.

There are certain factors that affects the rate of weathering. They are as follows-

1) Composition of the rock- The rocks are often comprised of different types of minerals. These minerals are formed under various conditions, and it ranges from soft to hard type of minerals. The hard minerals are least prone to weathering, whereas the softer minerals are easily eroded. For example, a rock comprised of quartz such as quartzite is more resistant to weathering than shale and limestone.

2) Crystal size- The size of the crystal also plays an important role in the weathering process. The smaller crystals are more prone to weathering than the coarser grained crystals.

3) Rock properties- The properties of rock also controls the weathering rate. A rock with high hardness and absence of fractures and cleavages tends to be more stable and resistant to weathering. But a rock with relatively low hardness and presence of fractures leads to the rapid rate of weathering.

4) Climate- Climate is one of the most important factor that is responsible for the process of weathering. The places where the amount of rainfall and temperature is high, there the rate of weathering is significantly high. Whereas, the places where there is least rainfall and temperature, there the weathering rate is comparatively less.

Thus, the correct answers are option (1), (2), (3) and (4).

Why did france britain and italy agree to give the sudeten territory to germany?
Bogdan [553]
That's because they wanted peace. It was the policy of appeasement. If they gave him what he wanted, that would solve his problems and keep the peace in Europe intact. They were however as it was only a matter of time before the war began, and it did with the invasion of Poland.
