Primary energy sources include fossil fuels (petroleum, natural gas, and coal), nuclear energy, and renewable sources of energy. They generate electricity, which is a secondary energy source.
However, the source of most of the continent’s electricity is natural gas, with 31.8%. Natural gas is a mixture of hydrocarbon gases that occurs naturally beneath the Earth's surface.
