Jim makes $5 an hour at the surf shop. His boss gives him a one-time bonus of $50. Sarah makes $8 an hour at the clothes store.

Her boss givers her a one-time bonus of $14. If they both work 15 hours, who will have a bigger paycheck?

Answer:

Sarah had the bigger paycheck of $134

Step-by-step explanation:

First we would need to find the total amount of money each one of them made in those 15 hours. We do this by multiplying their hourly rate by the hours worked and then adding the bonus

Jim:  (5*15) + 50 = x

          75 + 50 = x

              125 = x

Sarah: (8 * 15) + 14 = x

             120 + 14 = x

                  134 = x

Finally, we can say that Sarah had the bigger paycheck of $134 which is $9 more than Jim's

¿Cuál es la ecuación de la recta con pendiente -2 y el punto (4, 10)?
Sophie [7]

The general slope-intercept form equation is:

\begin{gathered} y=mx+b \\ \text{Wher m is the slope and b is the y-intercept value} \end{gathered}

In this case, m=-2 and with the point (4, 10) we can find the value of b:

\begin{gathered} We\text{ evalute the equation in the point (x, y) = (4 , 10):} \\ 10=-2\cdot4+b \\ 10=-8+b \\ b=10+8=18 \end{gathered}

We found that b = 18, so:

y=-2x+18

Someone please help me out with these questions . I don’t get them at all.
iVinArrow [24]

Answer:

a)similar; b)similar; c)similar; d)NOT similar

Step-by-step explanation:

>In general if

all corresponding angels are ≅, and

all corresponding sides are in proportion

then the Δs are similar

>we have 3 similarity theorems AA, SSS, and SAS

a)

we can use that sum of angles in a triangle is 180 to find the missing angles

180-96-32 = 52

so in the smaller triangle the angles are 96°-52°-32°

in the larger triangle the angles given are 52°-32°

Since there are 2 corresponding angles congruent, AA theorem of similarity says that the 2 triangles are similar. The transformations were that the big triangle was shrunk and rotated

b)

here we are given a pair of congruent angles and we need to check if the sides are in proportion, is 14/44.8 equal to 20/64?

14/44.8 =.3125 is equal to 20/64=.3125

since we have two corresponding sides in proportion and the angles in between them congruent the SAS theorem says that the 2 triangles are similar. The transformation was that the small triangle was dilated.

c)

because we are given the 2 angles are congruent we can conclude that the lines NH and SL are parallel. NH║SL let us conclude that ∡H and ∡ L are congruent because 2 parallel lines cut by a transversal (ML in our case) form congruent angles. So ΔMNH  is similar to ΔMSL because of AA theorem of similarity (one pair of A was given congruent, one other pair of A we concluded was congruent)

d)

here we have to check if all the sides are in proportion to see if SSS theorem of similarity applies here

18/90 = .2

44/202.4≈.22

58.5/211.2≈.28

.2≠ .22 ≠ .28

since the sides are not in proportion the 2 triangles are NOT similar.

Two forces with magnitudes of 90 and 50 pounds act on an object at angles of 30° and 160°, respectively. Find the direction and
Stels [109]
Force 1, F1 = 90, angle 30°

Force 2, F2 = 50, angle 160°

F1 = 90 cos(30) i + 90 sin (30) j
F2 = 50 cos (160) i + 50 sin (160) j

F1 = 90*0.866 i + 90*0.5 j
F2 = 50*(- 0.940) i + 50*0.342 j

F1 = 77.94 i + 45 j
F2 = -47 i +17.10 j

Resultant force, Fr = F1 + F2

Fr = [77.94 - 47.00] i +[45 +17.10]j = 30.94 i + 62.10 j

Magnitude = √[30.94 ^2 + 62.10^2] = 69.38 pounds

Direction  = arctan[62.10/30.94] = 63.52 °
