Eila has a box of chocolate candies. She gives
hammer [34]

<em>Answer: 24 </em>

<em>Step-by-step explanation:</em>

Equation: (1/3)x + 4 + 12 = x

Equation: (1/3)x + 16 = x

MULTIPLY EVERYTHING WITH 3

1/3 times 3 = x   16 times 3 = 48    x times 3 = 3x

Equation: x + 48 = 3x   MINUS THE "X" BY 3X = 2X

Equation: 2x = 48   OR   x = 24

CHECK THE EQUATION:

Sister: 8   Brother: 4   Herself: 12

8 + 4 + 12 = 24

Jenna ran 2 7/8 kilometers each day for a week. How far did she run in all? Give in estimate, then find the actual amount. Show
Semmy [17]

Answer:

Therefore Jenna ran 20 \frac{1}{8}  kilometers in a week.

Step-by-step explanation:

<u><em>Jenna ran 2 7/8 kilometers each day for a week. How far did she run in all?</em></u>

<u><em /></u>

We can simply use proportion to solve this;

But we need to know that 7 days = 1 week

If Jenna ran 2 \frac{7}{8}  kilometers each day, we are now going to find how many kilometers she run in a week(7 days)

Let x be the total distance she ran in a week

2 \frac{7}{8}  kilometers  =  1 day

   x                      = 7 day

Cross-multiply

x  = 2 \frac{7}{8}   ×  7

   = \frac{23}{8}   ×   7

    =\frac{161}{8}

    =20 \frac{1}{8}  kilometers

Therefore Jenna ran 20 \frac{1}{8}  kilometers in a week.
