What is the major cause of phytoplankton blooms in the Gulf of Mexico?
3241004551 [841]

Answer:

Excessive nutrients from fertilizer run off.

Explanation:

Scientists have suspected that phytoplankton blooms might be connected to agricultural run-off. They got some evidence from a recent study by comparing the timing of irrigation along the west coast of Mexico and phytoplankton blooms in Mexico’s Sea of Cortez. During the comparison, they had found a close correlation. Phytoplankton blooms occurred in the Sea of Cortez shortly after the irrigation. This happened because of carried fertilizers after irrigation and other agricultural run-offs into the sea.

The bloom detected in the Gulf of Mexico on December 13 might be similarly linked to agricultural run-off.

Why is it necessary to model the concept above?
aniked [119]

Answer:

You did not write the concept, so i will try to answer in a general way.

Why sometimes we really need to model concepts?

Well, sometimes the things are really complicated, or we just do not have the knowledge or tools to fully understand them.

Here is where the models came to be handy, we can somewhat "simplify" the things, and explain them with models.

For example, the movement of a particle as the wind pushes it can be really complex, so this can only be explained with a model.

Now, once we have a model (supported by theory and experiments) we can start to investigating furthermore in the given subject.

So for example, we could model how a given therapy acts on a given disease, and with that model, we could extrapolate the effects of the therapy in a similar disease (for example, testing how radiotherapy acts on a given tumor in some organ, can give information on how the same therapy can act on other types of tumors)

Concluding, models simplify some concepts, which allow us to understand them and work better with them

Medicare beneficiaries who are near death are the primary cause of large medicare payments.
olga nikolaevna [1]
It is not true that Medicare beneficiaries who are near death are primary cause of large Medicare Payments. Medicare is the federal government program that provides health care coverage. This program is in part funded by Social Security and Medicare taxes you pay on your income, in part funded through premiums that people with Medicare pay, and in part funded through the federal budget.
