For a data set of the pulse rates for a sample of adult females, the lowest pulse rate is 32 beats per minute, the mean of the

listed pulse rates is x overbarequals74.0 beats per minute, and their standard deviation is sequals14.8 beats per minute. a. What is the difference between the pulse rate of 32 beats per minute and the mean pulse rate of the females? b. How many standard deviations is that [the difference found in part (a)]? c. Convert the pulse rate of 32 beats per minutes to a z score. d. Answer:

The lowest pulse rate is 32 beats per minute

\bar {x}=74

s= 14.8

a) What is the difference between the pulse rate of 32 beats per minute and the mean pulse rate of the females?

= 74- 32

= 42

b) How many standard deviations is that [the difference found in part (a)]

= \frac{difference }{s} = \frac{42}{14.8}=2.8378

c) Convert the pulse rate of 32 beats per minutes to a z score.

z=\frac{32-74}{14.8}\\z=-3.07

d) If we consider pulse rates that convert to z scores between minus2 and 2 to be neither significantly low nor significantly high, is the pulse rate of 32 beats per minute significant?

Since z = - 3.07

Hence pulse rate is significantly low

Hackensack and New York City are 12 miles apart. On a map, the two cities are 2 Inches apart. How many miles does 1 Inch represe
Margaret [11]

Answer:

<em>6 miles</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question, we are told that 12 miles represents 2 inches on the map.

We are to calculate the amount of miles 1 inch will represent. To do this you will say:

12 miles = 2 inches

x miles = 1 in

Cross multiply;

2 * x = 12 * 1

2x = 12

x = 12/2

x  = 6

<em>Hence 1 inch will represents 6 miles on the map</em>
