Find the organelle that is not membrane bound and, thus, is not considered a true "organelle"
8090 [49]
Pseudo vacuoles are not true organelles since they are just air bubbles which do not possess tonoplast and cell sap like real vacuoles. But they do help by increasing buoyancy of cells.

A split-brain patient sees something in her left visual field, and must reach behind a screen and select the object from a group
choli [55]

A split-brain patient sees something in her left visual field and must go after a screen and choose the object from a group of objects. she will choose the object perfectly with her left hand.

What can a split-brain patient do if they see something in the left visual field?

The fact that split-brain patients can only accurately respond to stimuli in the left visual field with their left hand and to stimuli in the right visual field with their right hand and vocally is another important component of the conventional view.

Patients with split brains can still walk, swim, and ride a bike, which are motor abilities that need both sides of the body and were taught before the onset of their disorder. They can also pick up new skills that require them to move their fingers or hands in parallel or mirror images.

A split-brain patient must reach behind a screen and choose the object from a collection after spotting it in her left visual field. She will use her left hand to make the proper selection of the item.

Why is the Calvin cycle also called the light-independent reactions?

Slav-nsk [51]

Answer:

These reactions are also called the light-independent reactions because they are not directly driven by light. ... Unlike the light reactions, which take place in the thylakoid membrane, the reactions of the Calvin cycle take place in the stroma (the inner space of chloroplasts).

Plasmodium is a parasitic apicomplexan that causes malaria in humans. the figure below illustrates the plasmodium life cycle.
vaieri [72.5K]
Plasmodium is a monocellular parasite causing malaria to humans. The parasite's life cycle always includes two hosts, an insect host and a vertebrate host. The parasite's cells are injected into the vertebrate's (human in our case) bloodstream by the insect host (mosquito). There are several stages in its life cycle but the sexual reproduction occurs only in the insect. In the insect, gametocytes (haploid gametes) merge and form a zygote which in turn becomes an oocyst. Oocysts divide multiple times and that way a great number of sporozoites is produced. These sporozoites travel to the salivary gland of the mosquito and are injected into the bloodstream of the second host, the human. In humans, sporozoites infect liver cells and red blood cells.

According to this information, the four statements about Plasmodium which are true are:
-Plasmodium cells are transferred to human cells through mosquito saliva.
-The complete life cycle of Plasmodium requires two hosts.
-Plasmodium cells infect two specific types of cells in humans.
- Inside an infected mosquito haploid gametes fuse, forming a haploid zygote that develops into an oocyst.
