A quality analyst wants to construct a control chart for determining whether three machines, all producing the same product, are

in control with regard to a particular quality variable. Accordingly, he sampled four units of output from each machine, with the following results.
Machine 1 Measirement 17 15 15 17
Machine 2 Measurement 16 25 18 25
Machine 3 Measurement 23 24 23 22

It is known from previous experience that the standard deviation of a typical machine is measured as 2.1067. What are the Mean chart three-sigma upper and lower control limits?

a. 22 and 18
b. 23.16 and 16.84
c. 22.29 and 16.71
d. 23.5 and 16.5
e. 24 and 16

Answer:

b. 23.16 and 16.84

Explanation:

The computation is shown below:

As we know that

The Mean of each and every sample (X-bar) is

= Sum of observations Number of observations

And,

Range (R) = (Highest observation - Lowest observation)

For Machine 1:

X-bar = (17 + 15 + 15 + 17) ÷ 4

= 16

R = (17 - 15)

= 2

For Machine 2:

X-bar = (16 + 25 + 18 + 25) ÷ 4

= 21

R = (25 - 16)

= 9

For Machine 3:

X-bar = (23 + 24 + 23 + 22) ÷ 4

= 23

R = (24 - 22)

= 2

Now, the Mean of means (X-double bar) is determined as follows

X-double bar = Sum of X-bar ÷ Number of samples

= (16 + 21 + 23) ÷ 3

= 20

The Mean of ranges (R-bar) is determined as follows

R-bar = Sum of R ÷ Number of samples

= (2 + 9 + 2) ÷ 3

= 4.33

with reference to the table of constants for determining the 3-sigma upper and lower control limits,

n = 4 that represent the Number of units sampled

A2 = 0.729,

Now

UCL = X-double bar + (A2 × R-bar)

= 20 + (0.729 × 4.33)

= 23.16

LCL = X-double bar - (A2 × R-bar)

= 20 - (0.729 × 4.33)

= 16.84

Discuss whether a television manufacturer should adopt a capital intensive production process?
r-ruslan [8.4K]

Answer:

A television manufacturer can adopt a capital intensive production process.

Explanation:

A capital intensive means a production process in which a high proportion of investment in non current assets such as equipment, capital, etc. is used and a lower proportion of labor is used.

In a capital intensive production process, we have a low labor input, but will be highly productive in terms of output.

In a Television manufacturing company, it is advisable to use a capital intensive production process because of the industry involved. The broadcasting industry requires a capital intensive production process so as to minimize mistakes which might happen from labor.

It becomes particularly urgent for a company to consider diversification when there are
elena-s [515]
The company could consider diversifying when sales are beginning to slow and there is a way to leverage some of the business's core competencies in other areas that would be more competitive. In addition, this could allow the business to not worry about being "all-in" in a certain area, where that area's success or failure could lead to the entire business thriving or failing. By diversifying itself, the business can also lower production and sales costs or increase overall sales.

Answer:

Option B is the answer

Explanation:

Avoidable costs = 20,000+55,000+45,000 + (8*5000)+30,000

= 190,000

= 190,000/5,000 units

= $38 Option B is the answer

Marrrta [24]

Answer:

6.06%

Explanation:

The computation of the rate of return is shown below:

Given that

NPER = 20 years

PV = ($280,000 - $80,000) = $200,000

PMT = $0

FV = $75,000 × PVIFA factor at 10% for 21 years

= $75,000 × 8.6487

= $648,652.50

The following formula should be applied

= RATE(NPER;PMT;-PV;FV;TYPE)

The present value comes in negative

After applying the above formula, the rate of return is 6.06%

Why are only final goods and services included in the calculation of GDP?
zavuch27 [327]

Answer:

Only final goods and services are included in the calculation of GDP to avoid counting things multiple times.

Explanation:

In the calculation of the GDP only final goods and services are included because the prices of the these already have the costs of all the things that were used to produce them. If we count the intermediate products and services that were used for the final output, we will be double counting which will give a result that is not a correct estimation.
