Which of the following shows an unsaturated fatty acid?
grin007 [14]

Answer;

The first choice (A) is an unsaturated fatty acid.

Explanation;

-An unsaturated fat is a fat or fatty acid in which there is one or more double bond in the fatty acid chain.

-A fat molecule is monounsaturated if it contains one double bond, and polyunsaturated if it contains more than one double bond. In this case, the unsaturated fat (A) is polyunsaturated.

Some have speculated that the origin of life occurred at geothermal vents. amino acids can form there. compared to the amino aci
cluponka [151]

There are a number of amino acids that have formed under certain environmental conditions if the required elements are present and the energy conditions ar compatible with chemical assembly. These conditions have also allegedly formed amino acids on meteors, asteroids and comets.

But, amino acids are a very minor component of more complex biochemical assemblies required for life. Pentose sugars are also required, which form under different environmental conditions than amino acids. More importantly, only left-handed homochiral amino acids and right-handed homochiral sugars can form functioning biochemical assemblies that are viable in an organism. But, natural conditions, like hydrothermal vents only produce racemic versions of sugars and acids, meaning they are always approx. 50% left and right handed. This is fatal to forming viable biochemical assemblies.

Further, it is not possible for all of the 20+ homochiral amino acids needed for a living organism to form naturally. The only ones found have been the simpler amino acids. Also, the 4 critical nucleotide amino acids, C, G, A, T, do not form naturally, are not homochiral, nor in the right proportions.

The geo/hydrothermal vent conjecture is nonsensical. These are open systems, susceptible to currents, mineral contamination, salinity, ph, and temperature, making them a totally unacceptable environment for the precise and exact placement of elements to assemble to form life.

If the pride is taken over by new individuals, what happens to the females? males? cubs?.
Nookie1986 [14]

The cubs are a significant barrier to reproduction when a new male coalition first takes control of a pride. Mothers of surviving cubs won't mate again until their young are at least 18 months old, but if their cubs are lost, they will mate right away.

  • Following that, males leave on their own or are driven out by other men who take control of their pride. It is common for a new male to kill all the cubs when he joins the pride in order to pass his genes on to all future cubs. The major function of males in the pride is defending the pride's territory.
  • Female lionesses will devour the cubs of other pride, but not the cubs of their own pride. The "egalitarianism" of female lions stands in stark contrast to the autocratic behavior of wolves, wild dogs, and several other species, where dominant females prevent subordinates from reproducing.
  • When a female lion gives birth, she leaves the pride and doesn't come back until the cubs are several weeks old. After that, the adult females band together to take care of and protect the young.

Proton pumps embedded in the cell membrane use ATP to move hydrogen ions across the membrane. Which of the following best descri
DIA [1.3K]

Answer:

Explanation:

Although protons resemble other positive ions such as Na+ and K+ in their movement across membranes, in some respects they are unique. Hydrogen atoms are by far the most abundant type of atom in living organisms; they are plentiful not only in all carbon-containing biological molecules, but also in the water molecules that surround them. The protons in water are highly mobile, flickering through the hydrogen-bonded network of water molecules by rapidly dissociating from one water molecule to associate with its neighbor, Protons are thought to move across a protein pump embedded in a lipid bilayer in a similar way: they transfer from one amino acid side chain to another, following a special channel through the protein.
