Answer:

x = 55

Step-by-step explanation:

what I think is written there :

2x + 6

x + 9

it is important to recognize that both lines are parallel and are therefore cutting the third line with the same angles.

so, the large angle at one cutting line is the same large angle at the second cutting line. and the same for the small angles.

now, a line (one one side) stands for 180 degrees "turning". this is like a line in the ground and a stick laying on it. keeping one end of the stick on the ground you can lift the other end up, up, up until the stick stands upright. that is 90 degrees. and then you can keep turning the stick around the end still on the ground, and the stick will (more on the other side) get lower and lower to the ground again, until the stock is laying flat on the ground again.

this is then another 90 degrees, and you did a full 180 degree turn.

so, all angles along a line have to add up to 180 degrees.

in other words, the small angle plus the large angle must be in total 180 degrees.

=>

2x + 6 + x + 9 = 180

3x + 15 = 180

3x = 165

x = 55

Mahala is standing and fishing on a dock that is 2 1/4 feet above the surface of the water in the pond. Her baited hook is 1.5 f
Ugo [173]

Answer:

The graph is shown below.

Step-by-step explanation:

Take the distance above surface of water as positive and negative for below the surface.

Given:

Distance of dock from the surface of water, D=2\frac{1}{4}=\frac{9}{4}=2.25\textrm{ ft}

Distance of hook from the surface of water, H=-1.5\textrm{ ft}

The surface of water is the reference point and hence it has a value of 0.

Now, on a number line, the values to the left of 0 mark is negative and values to the right are positive.

Therefore, H will lie on the left of 0 mark and D will lie on the right as shown below.

If a coin is tossed 5 times, and then a standard six-sided die is rolled 4 times, and finally a group of three cards are drawn f
Step2247 [10]

Answer:  5,499,187,200

Step-by-step explanation:

A coin is tossed 5 times.

There are two options (heads or tails) so the possible outcomes are: 2⁵

A six-sided die is rolled 4 times.

There are six options so the possible outcomes are: 6⁴

A group of 3 cards are drawn (without replacement).

The first outcome has 52 options, the second has 51 options, and the third has 50 options: 52 x 51 x 50

Now if we want the coin AND the die AND the cards, we have to multiply all of their possible outcomes:

     2⁵ x   6⁴  x  52 x 51 x 50

=   32 x 1296 x 132,600

=  5,499,187,200
