-subtract the larger # from the smaller # to figure out what the change was.

8.8 - 6.5 = 2.3

-divide 2.3 by the orriginal ammount (8.8) to find your answer as a decimal

2.3 \div 8.8 = 0.261

-take 0.261 and multiply it by 100 to have your answer as a percent

0.2614 \times 100 = 26.1

-if the original number increased than it is percent increase and if the original number decreased than it is percent decrease
