Each area develops its recycling programs according to need, volume and financial resources. Usually it is more financially profitable to recycle in a more dense area. Sparsely populated areas tend to cost more and hence less incentive to develop recycling programs. The main idea is to divert waste into recycling to reduce rapid and continuous accumulation of waste which is very difficult to manage in future generations.
