Rational numbers can be written in a way where the entire number is displayed.
Irrational numbers will look a little "weird." They will have a square root or greek letter (such as π) because you cannot display the entire number. It would take forever to write out the number π (3.14159...). So we just use a symbol. That makes it an irrational number.
