One tactic to help bee populations stay healthy is raising hygienic bees. Hygienic bees contribute to overall disease resistance

by uncapping cells with diseased larvae and removing the diseased larvae. Uncapping (u) is a recessive trait and removal (r) is a recessive trait. A cross between a hygienic queen (uurr) and a unhygienic drone (UR) yields unhygienic bees. Remember males bees are haploid. With what could you cross the offspring to produce hygienic workers (females) in the F2 generation

Answer:

Crossing the hygienic queen with hygienic drones.

Explanation:

For producing hygienic workers (females) in the F2 generation, the hygienic queen must be cross with hygienic drones. Due to this crossing most of the offspring produced will be hygienic due to presence of dominant allele of hygienic. Both the male and the female bees have dominant allele of hygienic so the maximum number of offspring produced will be of hygienic and very low number of offspring is produced having unhygienic allele.

Explanation:

This is because all living exhibit functional characteristics which are movement, respiration, nutrition, irritability, growth, excretion, respiration and death. This characteristics are indication that organisms are living things.

Growth: it is the increase in size of organisms. All living organisms grow, they increase in size , from zygote to adulthood.

Metabolism...all living organisms excreate, they absorb nutrients and remove unwanted waste products and undigested good like sweat, urine e.t.c.

Responsiveness....All living organisms respond to stimulus, they respond to external environment or change.

Anon25 [30]
It is quite possible that introducing a new predator to the food chain may set it off balance. The cougar will flourish in southern Alabama based on the circumstances given above because of the high availability of deer. The introduction of the cougar will decrease the deer population overall.

Hope this helps in some way!

Question 1

D

Question 2

C

Question 3

D

Explanation:

1. An ecosystem is MOST likely to return to its original condition after Tall prairie grass burns after being struck by lightning.

Here is a research paper in which they explained how this happened. (Komarek, E. V. (1971). Lightning and fire ecology in Africa. In Tall Timbers Fire Ecology Conference (Vol. 11, pp. 473-509).)

2. In some national parks, controlled fires are maintained by firefighters. The major reasons for using controlled burns to maintain certain ecosystems is to give nonnative plants a chance to colonize the region.

A recent article provided the insight of this situation (Xanthopoulos, G., Delogu, G. M., Leone, V., Correia, F. J., & Magalhães, C. G. (2020). Firefighting approaches and extreme wildfires. In Extreme Wildfire Events and Disasters (pp. 117-132). Elsevier.)

3. One reason for the change in the Galápagos ecosystem has been the introduction of species that were not on the island before, such as donkeys, goats, cats, dogs, and insects. The introduction of nonnative species MOST likely disrupt the balance of life on the islands due to greater competition for limited food sources.

Scientist said that food competition is actually a struggle to survive in any ecosystem here is the reference paper (Eckhardt, R. C. (1972). Introduced plants and animals in the Galapagos Islands. Bioscience, 22(10), 585-590.)
