She studies for a total of 6 hours a day and has a total of 6 subjects to learn.

Plan B : Studying three subjects in a day dividing the time into 2 hours per subject.

If she takes 3 days worth of studying (18 hours) to complete one chapter of one subject, how many days will she require to complete one chapter in each subject according to both the plans. Compare the duration required in both the cases.

Agata [3.3K]

Answer: the Russell family used their sprinkler for 40 hours.

the Gonzalez family used their sprinkler for 20 hours.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the number of hours for which the Russell family used their sprinkler.

Let y represent the number of hours for which the Gonzalez family used their sprinkler.

The families used their sprinklers for a combined total of 60 hours. It means that

x + y = 60

The water output rate for the Russell family's sprinkler was 35L per hour. The water output rate for the Gonzalez family's sprinkler was 40L per hour. The total water output of both families was 2200L. It means that

35x + 40y = 2200- - - - - - - - - - --1

Substituting x = 60 - y into equation 1, it becomes.

35(60 - y) + 40y = 2200

2100 - 35y + 40y = 2200

- 35y + 40y = 2200 - 2100

5y = 100

y = 100/5

y = 20

x = 60 - y = 60 - 20

x = 40

Gekata [30.6K]

Answer: 0.01429

Step-by-step explanation:

1.429 x 10^{-2}

Now 10^{-2} is just 1/100 or 0.01, because 10^2 is 100

Now we can multiply 1.429 by 0.01 which is 1.429 x 0.01

Or the easy way, we can just place the decimal two places to the left because the power is -2, so 2 places to the left. Moving the decimal to the left makes the number smaller.

So, take 1.492 and move its decimal 2 places to the left

We get 0.01429
