The main punishment it gave to Germany was the WW2.

The terms of the written agreement were terribly damaging to Germany, territory was taken from Germany depriving it of valuable industrial and agricultural financial gain. The War Guilt Clause cursed Germany and her allies for beginning the war this led to feelings of humiliation and anger.
