Substitute the number 6 for x and the number 8 for y. if you do this, the equation will become 43(6) + 26 - 19(8) + (6 • 8). Then solve! remember to multiply with the parenthesis first!

The first one is 3:6, or 1:2 in simplest form. There are three hammers for every six screw drivers.

The second one is 2:8, or 1:4. I am not sure if they want you to actually count each banana, but if so, that would be the answer. For every 2 apples, there are 8 bananas. If you are not supposed to count the bananas, it would be 2:2, or 1:1.

The third one is 15:100, or 3:20 in simplest form. For every 15 sixth grade teachers, there are 100 sixth grade students.

Hope this helps!!! :)))
