During the Civil war, the Gettysburg Address referred to the famous speech delivered by Abraham Lincoln at the dedication on November 19, 1863 of the National Cemetery at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania which was the site of one of the decisive battles of the American Civil War.
The main address (Gettysburg Address) at the dedication ceremony was a two-hour speech delivered by Edward Everett, who steeped in the tradition of ancient Greek oratory and his speech was some 13,000 words long but he delivered it without notes.
