In a plane, if two lines are each parallel to a third line, then they are _________ to each other.
iogann1982 [59]
Parallel. This is pretty simple if you either a) Picture it in your head, or b) look at each option logically. lets try out b)

The last option does not really apply to lines, and is for angles. (unless your talking about the adjecent sides of an angle, but this would mean they meet at a vertex) Perpendicular, doesnt make sense because if they were perpindicular on a plane, (2-d) then it would be immpossible for BOTH to be parallel to a third line. This leaves the first option, which makes sense.

A hiker leaves camp and hikes 9 miles north and than hikes 7 miles east. What is the resulting displacement of the hiker?
lora16 [44]
(7, 9). the reason for this, is because on an x y coordinate plane, x first, then y second. east is positive, north is positive, therefore it is (7, 9)

Describe how the graph of a line with a slop m=1/2 differ from the graph of a line with slop m=2?
neonofarm [45]

The line with slope = 2 will be closer to the y-axis than the line with slope = 1/2

How to interpret the slopes?

The slopes are given as:

Slope = 2

Slope = 1/2

The greater the absolute value of the slope of a linear equation.

The closer the function is to the y-axis

This means that the line with slope = 2 will be closer to the y-axis than the line with slope = 1/2
