4 0

a.) X^2 - 2x – 24 = 0

x^2-6x+4x-24=0

this is expressing negative 2x as the sum of two terms which are negative 6x and positive 4x

x(x-6)+4(x-6)=0

(x+4)(x-6)=0

(x+4)=0. so x=-4

(x-6)=0 so x=6

b.) x^2 - 11x + 18 =0
