As the American nation expanded westward, many groups faced challenges and has to deal with conflict.

Explanation:

Westward expansion was initially expected to be very smooth and peaceful process but it was entirely opposite as expected. It was full of war and blood shed of hundreds of people. Native Americans did not want to loose their land and so they resisted for their concerns. This resulted in great destruction and many killing happened for this reason.
