Because B is the midpoint of AC and AB = 2x + 4, BC must also be 2x + 4. So you add 2x + 4 to 2x + 4 to get 4x + 8. Then you set that to be equal to 40. Then you subtract 8 from both sides to get 4x = 32 and divide by 4 so you end up with x = 8.

Answer:

if it's area the area would be the length of the diameter of the semi circle which is the height of the triangle multiplied by the base of the triangle to find the area of the triangle then to find the area of the circle would be pie multiplied by the diameter divided by two squared

\pi \   \times 7 {}^{2}

then the total area would be the area of the triangle plus the area of the half circle

Step-by-step explanation:

Here,  The hurdle track that is 1/5 of a mile long.

And, After extending the track, the length of the hurdle track = 1/4 of a mile

Therefore, the unit rate of length in the longer track per mile of length in the shorter track = the initial length of the hurdle track / the final length of the hurdel track

= \frac{1/5}{1/4}

= \frac{4}{5}
