Answer:

YZ =  12, ML = 11

Step-by-step explanation:

The median is half the sum of the parallel bases, that is

YZ = \frac{KN+LM}{2}

4x - 16 = \frac{13+2x-3}{2} ( multiply both sides by 2 to clear the fraction )

8x - 32 = 10 + 2x ( subtract 2x from both sides )

6x - 32 = 10 ( add 32 to both sides )

6x = 42 ( divide both sides by 6 )

x = 7

Then

YZ = 4x - 16 = 4(7) - 16 = 28 - 16 = 12

ML = 2x - 3 = 2(7) - 3 = 14 - 3 = 11

Answer:

The bottom is  11

The median is  12

Step-by-step explanation:

The median is the average of the top and bottom

(13+ 2x-3) /2 = 4x-16

Combine like terms

(10+2x)/2 = 4x-16

Divide by 2

5+x = 4x-16

Subtract x from each side

5+x-x = 4x-16-x

5 = 3x-16

Add 16 to each side

5+16 = 3x-16+16

21 = 3x

Divide by 3

21/3 = 3x/3

7 =x

The bottom is 2x-3 = 2*7-3 = 14-3 = 11

The median is 4x-16 = 4*7-16 = 28 -16 = 12

49 more than the quotient of an unknown number and 12 is 53. What is the value of the unknown number?
nalin [4]
The unknown number is 48 using the equation: x ÷ 12 +49=53 subtract 49 from both sides and get x ÷ 12 = 4 multiplying by 12 on both side to get rid of the ÷12 and get the final answer of x=48.

Last season two running back's on the college football team rush for a combined 1550 yards one rushed four times as many yards a
dmitriy555 [2]

Answer:

The player with the most runs had a rush of 1,240 yards

Step-by-step explanation:

In this question, we are asked to calculate the number of yards that was rushed by one of two person given their combined run and an extra information.

Firstly, let the person that had the smaller number of rush have a rush of x rushes. The second person has a rush of 4 times the other. This makes a number of 4x rushes

By adding both together, we have a total of 1550 yards

Mathematically, this means that x + 4x = 1550

5x = 1550

x = 1550/5 = 310 rushes

The second player had a rush of 4x and that is 4 * 310 = 1,240 rushes
